🔒 What is CodeLock?

CodeLock lets you attach a combination padlock to any base gate, fence door, or storage container. Once locked with a 4-digit code, the door cannot be opened without entering the correct code. CodeLocks persist through server restarts and are one of your most important base security tools.

There is no recovery mechanic for forgotten codes. Admins cannot unlock a CodeLock for you. Write your code down somewhere safe before setting it.

1 Obtain a CodeLock

CodeLocks can be crafted or purchased at the Trader (Tools / Hardware category). They also occasionally spawn as loot in industrial buildings and garages. Stock up — you'll want at least one on every gate and storage container in your base.

2 Attach to a Gate or Door

Stand in front of the gate or door you want to lock. With the CodeLock in your hands (or inventory), look at the gate and use the Attach CodeLock action from the action menu. The lock is now physically attached to the door in an unlocked state.

You can attach CodeLocks to: fence gates, double gates, BBP doors, storage sheds, tents (some)

3 Set Your Code

Look at the CodeLock on the gate and press F to open the code interface. The first time you interact with a freshly attached (unset) lock, you will be prompted to set a new code. Enter your 4-digit combination and confirm.

Remember this code. Once set, the code cannot be viewed or retrieved. Tell your squadmates in person or via private message — don't post it in group chat.

4 Lock and Unlock

Look at the CodeLock on the gate and press F. A keypad appears:

To unlock: Enter your 4-digit code and press confirm. The gate opens freely until you lock it again.
To lock: Interact with the CodeLock and select Lock (or simply close the gate — some CodeLocks auto-lock when the door closes).
The CodeLock indicator light shows green (unlocked) or red (locked).

Tip: Get in the habit of checking the light every time you go through a gate. Always lock behind you — an open gate is an invitation.

5 Changing the Code

To change your combination, interact with the CodeLock while it's unlocked and select Change Code. Enter the old code, then set a new one. Change your code if you suspect it has been compromised or if a squad member leaves on bad terms.

⚡ Keeping Your Base Secure

Lock every gate — even interior doors. Layers of security slow down raiders and reduce what they can reach.
Use different codes for your outer gate vs. inner doors. If someone cracks the outer gate, they still face a separate code inside.
Don't share codes in public chat. Whisper or direct message squadmates only.
Change codes when a player leaves your group — especially if they left on bad terms.
Metal walls + CodeLocked gates = your best defence against casual raiders. Determined raiders with Breachingcharges can breach walls, but a well-built and locked base is a significant deterrent.

❓ FAQ

I forgot my code. Can an admin help?

No. There is no admin tool to recover or bypass a CodeLock code. The only way to access a CodeLocked gate you've forgotten the code to is to use a Breachingcharge on it, destroying the lock. Write your code down.

Can CodeLocks be picked or broken into without a Breachingcharge?

No. The only way to bypass a CodeLock without the code is to breach the gate structure itself with explosives.

Can I attach a CodeLock to a vanilla DayZ fence (not BBP)?

Yes — CodeLock works on standard DayZ fence kits and gate kits as well as BBP structures.

The CodeLock shows green but the gate won't open.

The gate may be stuck on terrain or another object. Try opening it from a different angle. If it's completely jammed, contact an admin.

My CodeLock disappeared after a server restart.

CodeLocks are saved by the server persistence system. If one disappeared, it may have been removed by another player, or the structure itself may have decayed. Check for signs of raiding.
