Base Building Plus (BBP) extends DayZ's vanilla base building system with more structural pieces, upgrade paths, and building options. You can build walls, floors, roofs, ramps, gates, and more — all constructed progressively from materials you gather or buy at the Trader.
Start with logs and planks, upgrade to metal sheets and pipes for stronger structures
Different tools for different stages. Always carry a hammer and nails at a minimum
Chop trees with an axe for logs. Saw logs into planks with a hacksaw. Or buy planks at the Trader.
Nails come in boxes of 10. Barbed wire for additional security. Both available at hardware traders.
Required to upgrade wooden structures to metal. Significantly increases durability against raiding.
Primary construction tool. Required for most building actions. Always carry one.
Used to dismantle your own structures. Cannot dismantle enemy base parts (use Breachingcharge).
Attach to any gate or door. Set a 4-digit code. Required to secure your base from entry.
Pick your base location carefully — it will be a long-term investment. Consider:
Craft a Fence Kit using two short sticks and one rope (found as loot or bought at Trader). Hold the kit in your hands, look at the ground, and press the action key to place it. You'll see a ghost preview of the fence panel — position it to form your wall line.
For gates, craft a Gate Kit the same way. Place kits to outline your base perimeter before starting construction.
Once a kit is placed, open your inventory while near it to see the material slots. Add the required materials (logs or planks + nails), then use your Hammer on the kit to build. The first stage creates a rough wooden frame.
Build a gate kit into a full gate structure, then attach a CodeLock to secure it. See the CodeLock Guide for full instructions on setting your combination.
Wooden structures can be upgraded to metal using metal sheets and a welder or torch. Metal structures are significantly more resistant to raiding tools. Upgrade outer walls first — focus on high-priority sections like the gate area and any walls that face roads.
Standard perimeter walls. Can be upgraded from wood to metal. Full height blocks line of sight.
Openable gates for vehicle access. Single gate for foot traffic, double gate for vehicles.
Raised floors for multi-level structures. Required base for towers and upper platforms.
Covers structures from weather and protects from above. Various slope and flat options.
Connect floor levels. Ramps allow vehicle access to raised platforms.
Tall defensive structures for overwatch. Requires floor foundations at each level.
How do I dismantle my own structures?
Use a Hacksaw or Pliers on the structure. You'll get some materials back. You can only dismantle structures you built (your character placed the kit).
Can my base be raided?
Yes. Other players can use Breachingcharges to blow through walls and gates. Metal structures withstand more charges than wood. Secure your most important walls first.
How many players can build on the same base?
Any player can add to a base in progress — there's no ownership lock on individual pieces. Coordinate with your group on who builds what to avoid duplication.
Do bases decay over time?
Structures require maintenance — they degrade over time if not repaired. Use a hammer to maintain walls and keep them from deteriorating. Check your base when you log on.
Can I build on top of an existing player-built structure?
BBP structures can connect to each other. Build floors and then add walls on top to expand vertically. Plan your base layout before building to avoid dead-ends.
